Volunteers Make ArtFest Fort Myers Happen!

Steering Committee members working with ArtFest's staff oversee all aspects of the festival.

Weekend volunteers greet attendees, support the artists and work behind the scenes. Every volunteer, every four-hour shift is important to the success of our festival. Many opportunities, with training provided.

For months the ArtFest Fort Myers staff have been attending best-practices webinars and communicating with medical staff to create as safe an art festival as possible in this challenging time. A quick summary of new protocols is:

  • Crowd size will be dramatically controlled to allow for social distancing.
  • The art festival will have a perimeter fence; 5 gates; tickets sold by time period & by gate to moderate crowd flow.
  • The number of artists has been reduced to 150 from 210 to allow the booths to be further apart, supporting social distancing.
  • No full-service food vendors, just snacks.
  • Hand sanitizing stations everywhere.
  • Professional cleaning crews for all touch points (restrooms; tables/chairs and more).
  • Masks will be required for everyone: artists; volunteers; attendees; food vendors; sponsors and anyone else within the festival site.

Festival Weekend Information for Volunteers

Before the festival weekend, please be sure to watch the training videos for your area - they will be posted here in January 2021.

We count on your presence and prompt arrival 20 minutes before your scheduled shift times.

Volunteer Headquarters is located at the all-new Calossa Sound Convention Center - you know it as Harborside Event Center. Volunteer entrance is at the corner of Bay St. and Monroe St. Look for the big red & yellow Welcome Flags and Volunteer Entrance sign.

Volunteer Priorities

FUN is why we volunteer! Smiling under your mask brings joy to everyone. Safety is always the first priority; this is why we ask that no alcoholic beverages be consumed while volunteering. Patience is always a must.

What to Wear

Wear your FREE volunteer T-shirt — provided to you at Check-In. Dress comfortably for outdoors and listen to the weather. Bring rain gear, if rain is predicted — we still need you. Don’t forget your sunscreen! Comfortable closed-toed shoes are a must, our festival site is one mile long and you will be on your feet.

Purses?

Think about leaving your purse at home. Wear a fanny pack or similar. We have no place to secure your valuables.

Parking

Volunteer Parking is reserved for you and free trolley service will bring you to the Volunteer Check-In entrance. Volunteer Parking is located at the Jury Parking Lot across from the Fort Myers Police Building - look for the big green signs. GPS address: 2210 Widman Way, Fort Myers, FL 33901

When registering to volunteer for a position with ArtFest Fort Myers each volunteer agrees to comply with all rules and all health and safety guidelines communicated to them by ArtFest Fort Myers.

These include but are not limited to the following:

    1. “Social distancing” must be practiced.
    2. Face coverings must be worn at all times.
    3. Gloves may be required for some assignments.
    4. Daily health screening, which may include answering the standard COVID questions and temperature check.
    5. Volunteer will not come to ArtFest Fort Myers if:
      • they have tested positive for COVID in the 14 days before ArtFest Fort Myers, or
      • they have been in contact with anyone who tested positive for COVID in the 14 days before ArtFest Fort Myers, or
      • they have any COVID symptoms such as fever/chills; cough; difficulty breathing; fatigue; headache; loss of taste or smell; sore throat; congestion; nausea/vomiting/diarrhea, or
      • they have traveled outside the US in the 14 days before ArtFest Fort Myers.
